A house with roots and values

1930 – OPENING

In the late 1920s, Hans Watschinger had a dream. His vision was an impressive mountain retreat for discerning guests, as well as mountaineers and alpinists. He commissioned the renowned Austrian architect Clemens Holzmeister to design a striking hotel in the then-fashionable monumentalism style, perched on one of the finest vantage points in Sesto-Moso.

The opening of the Hotel Drei Zinnen set new standards in hospitality and architecture alike – on a scale not seen here before. More than that, Rudolf Stolz’s frescoes made a real impression.

1940 – A NEW ERA

The Hotel Drei Zinnen quickly became a popular summer destination for an international crowd. It was sophisticated, ahead of its time, and, even then, boasted a heated outdoor pool, which was quite the curiosity for the farming community of Sesto-Moso.

But Hans Watschinger was already planning his next move. Inspired by conversations with one of his guests, ski world champion, mountaineer and writer Heinrich Harrer (Seven Years in Tibet), he set out to transform the hotel – and Sesto – into a winter destination as well. The region’s first ski lift was built (initially private), and a ski school soon followed.

1960 – THE BOOM

In the decades following World War II, South Tyrolean tourism really took off, as the economic boom of the 1960s and 70s sparked a surge in wanderlust and a passion for travel. New visitors brought new trends that transformed hospitality in many places – but not at the Hotel Drei Zinnen.

Even as the house evolved, the Watschinger family stayed true to their values: quality over quantity, individuality over mass appeal, style over attitude. These remain our guiding principles today.

2010 – ZEITGEIST

With the new millennium, our historic walls have been touched once again by the spirit of the new age. The Hotel Drei Zinnen’s expanded spa now offers a contemporary and elegant space to unwind, featuring a Finnish sauna, steam bath and whirlpool. Even here, we held to our philosophy: preserve the house’s nostalgic character while thoughtfully renewing it.

TODAY AND TOMORROW

A family affair since 1929. For nearly a century, the Hotel Drei Zinnen has been run by the Watschinger Soyer family. More than our life’s work, the hotel is woven into our family history, creating a long tradition of hospitality. We’re proud to carry that legacy forward, keeping what has stood the test of time and carefully introducing what’s new – for a tomorrow rooted in heritage and values.

Special people

Our team is made up of special people through and through. This place brings us together: the atmosphere within these walls, the magnificent sweep of peaks beyond the windows. Every team member feels as connected to the Hotel Drei Zinnen and its traditions as we, the hosts, do. You’ll notice it throughout the house, in the smallest of gestures and in the warm smiles that greet you.
